Hey lovely souls, I’m Sweta and I live in Dallas with my two kids and husband in Dallas. I moved to USA 15 years ago and my journey here has been a whirlwind of cultural adjustments, parenting dilemmas, and everything in between. Remember those early years? Feeling like a guest in someone else’s house, trying to decipher the dos and don’ts of this new land? Yep, been there, done that.
And then, parenthood hit me like a ton of bricks. Suddenly, the age-old wisdom of my mom and grandma seemed out of sync with the modern world. Diapers replaced homemade baby clothes, and the doctor’s warnings about old remedies made me question everything. It’s been a rollercoaster ride of doubts and decisions ever since.
Now, as my oldest gears up for high school, I find myself torn between the traditional Indian mom in me, pushing for top grades, and the laid-back American approach, encouraging him to explore his passions. Decisions, decisions!
Oh, and let’s not forget the eternal struggle of balancing career and family. Can I handle more responsibilities at work? How will it affect my kids and my sanity, especially with no extended family around?
